The Singapore GP was the perfect culmination of drama, emotions, heartbreaks, and triumph. We returned to marina bay after a 2 year gap and boy did it deliver with not only an amazing race but a nail-biting qualification session as well. 

Perez came out on the top in the intense battle for the lead with Charles hunting him down for a good chunk of the race. While max was stuck at the back of the grid with some mistakes of his own and some of the team.

Safety Car wins the 2022 Italian GP

Mixed up grid, surprising strategy calls, and an anticlimactic finish – the 2022 Formula 1
Italian GP concluded with the crowd wanting for more- which I’d agree with. 🤝
Formula 1 arrived at the Temple of speed- with a plethora of grid penalties shaking up the
starting 20. 100 years since the first race at the legendary Monza circuit – the battle of
Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen was what the Italian crowd was longing for and it’s safe
to say, they were left wanting for more.

Max breaks Tifosi hearts

Max Verstappen won the race somewhat comfortably after starting P7 and taking the engine
penalties on Saturday. The race ended behind a Safety car, with his Red Bull Racing & Red
Bull Technology teammate Sergio Perez finished P6 from P13 even after his tires were on
fire in the initial laps.

“Ruin Weekends and Kill dreams”: The Ferrari Way

Charles Leclerc had the opportunity to battle Max. Still, the early-ending Virtual Safety car
wasn’t capitalized as much as they’d have liked, with the Monegasque finishing on the
podium at P2 in front of the adoring Tifosi at Monza. Teammate Carlos Sainz ended the race
at P5, starting at P18.
Most people, including myself, thought that the Scuderia had a better chance of beating the
Red Bull of Max, especially after the strong Free Practice and Quali sessions. Even RB
Chief Engineer Paul Monaghan reckons Ferrari might have targeted a win at Monza a bit
more than at other races – but alas! The wrong strategy call- or as Binotto puts it – “playing
poker” did not help their cause at all, and was a reflection of what their season looked like.
The Safety Car Fiasco
The race at Monza on Sunday ended under caution after Daniel Ricciardo’s car stopped at
the side of the track six laps from the end of the race and triggered a safety-car period.
Ideally, there should normally have been plenty of time to get the race resumed- but to add
to Ferrari’s woes, the race ended behind Bernd Mayländer’s Safety Car.
By the time Verstappen was slotted in behind the safety car, there were not enough laps left
to allow lapped cars through and have a restart at the end of the following tour, as the rules
dictate.
With the race ending under the safety car, leaving fans worldwide disappointed and drawing
boos from the Italian GP crowd, there have been calls for F1 to reconsider the idea of
red-flagging races under such circumstances to ensure there can be a restart. This easily
brought forth comparisons to the 2021 Season finale at Abu Dhabi and “that” Safety Car
restart that shook the world of F1.
The “Aaaaaaahhh….” at the end of the race somehow sounded very similar to the “This has
been manipulated, man!” we heard at the Yas Marina last year – IYKWIM.

The Monza Curse

Not going to explain much: Just a not-very-fun fact :
2019 : Leclerc Wins. 2020 : DNF.
2020: Gasly Wins. 2021: DNF.
2021 : Ricciardo Wins. 2022 : DNF
2022: Max Wins. 2023: ?
I’m gonna leave you with that.


In other News

The Mercedes pairing of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton had a good weekendclinching P3 and P5 respectively: with George’s 7th podium of the season.⚡️

McLaren Racing’s Lando Norris, Scuderia AlphaTauri F1 Team’s Pierre Gasly, Debutant
Nyck de Vries, and Zhou Guanyu completed the top 10.

With the newest point finisher in town, Nyck “Chad-eVries” managed to outshine the
in-house chad, Latifi as the Canadian slipped to #21 out of 20 drivers. Just Goatifi things 🙂
With the last laps of the race under scrutiny with a Safety car call, the Scuderia Ferrari would
be disappointed not to win their home race – but it’s safe to say that Max won the race and
Charles won the crowd.❤️
With the championship now definitely out of reach, the prancing horses can only hope for a
victory when F1 returns to Singapore, on October 2

Max and Red Bull continue their campaign of domination at Monza, the temple of speed at 2022 Italian GP. No matter what Ferrari did, the hard pill to swallow is that Max was just unstoppable at Monza. 

This race was also the debut of Nyck de Vries who gained half of all the points Williams has earned in a single race and completely humiliated Latifi in the process.

Max Verstappen wins 2022 Dutch GP

Drama! In a word, that was the 2022 Formula 1 Dutch GP💥

Strategy miscalls, gutsy moves, safety cars, penalties – it had it all! With what looked like a dominant weekend all across, Max Verstappen has now won 10 of the 15 races this season.

– The dutchman was on pole on Saturday, and was on top from the get-go, with him pitting 4 times in total – switching to softs for the last laps. His Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology teammate Sergio Perez had a comparatively silent race, finishing P5.

– The surprise of the weekend was hands down the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton ending the race at P2, P4 respectively. What could’ve been a podium for the 7-time champ was cut short due to a wrong tyre call.

– Scuderia Ferrari was a hit and a miss, with Charles Leclerc surprisingly finishing on the podium given their weekend. Carlos Sainz had yet another bout of unluck with pitlane headaches and a time penalty, pulling him down to P8.

– Alpine’s Fernando Alonso had a cracker of a race, clawing his way back from 13th to a strong P6, with his teammate Ocon at P9.

– McLaren Racing and the Aston Martin F1 Team completed the top 10 with their drivers Lando Norris and Lance Stroll closing the day at P7 and P10.

With a huge 109 point lead over Leclerc, it’s safe to say that the championship will go Dutch again this season. But can Ferrari clinch a home win at Monza next week and bring some relief to this campaign?
I guess we’ll have to wait and see! 🙂

  5. Max Verstappen joins the 30 race winners Club. And he is the youngest person to achieve it.
  6. Red Bull got the fastest pitstop for the race (2.09s).

Max Verstappen wins Belgian GP

Formula 1 has been away for its month-long Summer break, and what a return yesterday was!🔥

F1 came to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgian GP (which also happens to be one of my favourites)- and Max Verstappen started right back from where he left off.

– Starting P14, the defending champ made easy work of the entire grid, taking P1 in just 12 laps of 7 km track, winning the race by over 18 seconds.
His Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology teammate Sergio Perez finished P2 : yet another 1-2 for the RB pair.

– The woes at the Scuderia Ferrari garage were far from over, as the pole-sitter Carlos Sainz finished P3 while his teammate and previous title contender Charles Leclerc had, let’s just say, a bad day at the office – finishing P6 after a late penalty.

– Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team’s 7-time World Champion crashed out with Alpine’s 2-time Champ Alonso on lap 1, ending the Brit’s race. His teammate Russell meanwhile finished in the top 5 yet again- at P4 ahead of Alonso.

– Ocon, Vettel, Gasly and Albon finished in the top 10 as the close battles of the midfield continued.

With a massive 93-point lead over his teammate, the dominant Max Verstappen looks the favored candidate for the 2022 championship.

While Ferrari completely bottled it Mercedes was able to completely capitalize on Ferrari’s misfortune and get that double podium!

The 2022 French GP was another great race at the Paul Ricard Circuit. Ferrari handed off the tradition of messing up to their drivers this race and Max is handed yet another victory. Mercedes got the best result so far with a 2-3!

This episode is a special one because we have a celebrity on the show. Craig Scarborough aka @ScarbsTech is in the house. Craig Scarborough is an institution of technical knowledge in F1. He hosts the F1’s official Tech Talk show on F1TV and has been an lifelong F1 fan too! He is the “go to” person for tech in F1 and has been a powerhouse on Twitter answering everyone’s questions.

The 2022 Austrian GP sees some great battles. The Ferrari of Charles wins but other Ferrari ends up in literal flames. The RBR of Max makes it through the finish line but Perez DNF’s. Mick’s best finish, Strolls great drive and the super amazing 5 way battle.

2022 British GP

The 2022 British GP seems to have produced the best race of the season so far! This was one of the most exciting races we have had in modern history. The close racing, a horrible accident, lots of drama, Ferrari being Ferrari, made this a nail-biting race! Sainz finally reached the top position of the podium and Perez doing a rerun of Sakhir GP and Hamilton again going Beast mode.
